Three of the artworks are paintings of her school colleagues while one is of a family member.
Monique received the news from organisers of Artexpress after her HSC and said “I was so excited, I ran to mum about the news”.
“In art, that’s a big thing for our school,” the 17-year-old said.
Asked about the future, Monique said she will take a gap year to travel first before returning to continue her creative pursuits at a university.
“Either art, art teaching or nursing,” she said.
“I really love my art so I don’t want to drop it.”
The youngster, who does mostly painting of portraits, began her love for art during primary school.
Her mother, Janine, said she was “very thrilled and excited” for Monique.
“It’s lovely to see her excited about the news,” Mrs Harrington said.
“It’s what that she loves to do so it’s nice to see that something she’s so passionate about has brought her some good results.”
The exhibition will run from February 7–April 2019.
