“Emergency departments at all MLHD hospitals never close and emergency care continues around the clock,” said chief executive Jill Ludford.
“We urge people with minor conditions to see their GP or seek other health advice and to keep the ED for emergencies during the festive holiday period,” Ms Ludford said.
“We advise people to go to their GP, contact the Wagga GP After-Hours Service on 6931 0900, visit their local pharmacy or contact healthdirect for general advice and information,” she said.
Healthdirect provides free health information and advice online and over the phone. It is available 24 hours, seven days by phone on 1800 022 222 for advice from a registered nurse or online at www.healthdirect.gov.au
In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance, Ms Ludford said.
