NSW RFS members from the southern zone have been deployed to Gladstone, Queensland, to help with ongoing fires.
There are 14 members from Wagga, 14 from Southern Border and five from the Mid-Murray.
Riverina Zone RFS operation officer Brad Stewart said they would be briefed and deployed on the ground immediately.
“They flew via charter jet to Gladstone and they’ll go straight into it,” he said.
“Our guys will be working on the fire ground until Wednesday and then coming home on Thursday.
“They’ll be doing 12-hour days under trying conditions.”
Queensland continues to experience a persistent heatwave with more than 100 bushfires.
Last Saturday, Bureau of Meteorology expert Bruce Gunn said “this exceptional heat and fire event just keeps continuing”.
Increased fire danger continues to be predicted.
