Cootamundra officials notified CAW chief Michael Erdeljac of the decision only hours after they defeated Holbrook and District by 109 runs at Holbrook.
Erdeljac is hoping another challenger can be organised in the next 24 hours.
“We are working through the situation with the Wagga Cricket Association at the moment,” Erdeljac said.
Cootamundra is fielding only one A grade side in the South West Slopes Cricket League this season which has severely hampered the association’s representative options.
Although Holbrook was well beaten on Sunday, the association’s score of 7-221 was its highest since April, 1965.
Long-serving skipper Darren Howard told teammates after the match he would be stepping down from the helm.
Association stalwart Robbie Mackinlay is also retiring from representative cricket.
