Harry Rosengren starred with both bat and ball at Robertson Oval.
He took 5-51 off 10 overs as Cootamundra were bowled out for 147.
Rosengren then made 39 at the top of the order.
Adam Newcombe finished unbeaten on 42 with Jon Nicoll at the other end on 30 as Wagga chased down the runs in the 37th over.
With a clash against Goulburn next month to complete the pool stage, Nicoll has set his sights on claiming another home final.
"We've got ourselves in a good position to make the final and if we can win in Goulburn then we will definitely get a home final,” Nicoll said.
"We're pretty determined to get a home final again this year."
He was impressed with Rosengren’s effort.
"He bowled really well in really dry conditions,” Nicoll said.
"It was perfect for the slow guys to take away the game.
"He did really well then made 40 with the bat so he had a day out.”
Adam Twyford top scored for Cootamundra with 39 before being judged lbw to Rosengren while Matt Berkrey made 37 before being caught off Marc Vincent.
The final round is on January 20 with Wagga travelling to tackle Goulburn while Cootamundra hosts Yass.
The final will be on February 10.
