It comes less than one month after the event was announced.

In a media statement, event promoters Empire Touring said “it is with great regret” that they had to cancel the event “due to unforeseen circumstances”.

“There has been a scheduling conflict that cannot be rectified, making it impossible to stage the event,” the statement reads.

“Empire Touring sincerely apologises to our valued patrons, who have been inconvenienced by this unexpected cancellation.”

Announced in November this year, the country concert’s lineup was set to feature Kasey Chambers, Adam Brand, Richard Clapton, Travis Collins, The Badloves, Aleyce Simmonds, Brad Butcher and Melanie Dyer.

MTC CEO Scott Sanbrook said it was “extremely disappointing to hear that the event had been cancelled”.

“It’s totally beyond the control of the MTC,” Mr Sanbrook said.

Asked if they had been given further details about the conflict of scheduling, Mr Sanbrook said “we were only informed that it wasn’t going ahead”.

“Being the first time we had scheduled this event, it was a bit hard to know what to expect.

“But these types of events are really good for Wagga – that’s been evident by the success of Rock at the Races that attracted nearly 4000 people in November.”

He said that with big names ready to perform, the lineup would have been a significant draw card.

“They would’ve attracted a lot of tourists and people from outside the region,” Mr Sanbrook said.

Patrons who have purchased tickets will receive full refund from where they purchased: Oz Tix or Ticketmaster.
