NSW coach Brad Fittler named a 23-man squad full of rising stars on the cusp of selection for State of Origin and others who have been identified as potential players for the future.
They will take part in a training camp on December 13.
It’s been a whirlwind year for Lomax with the 19-year-old making his debut for St George Illawarra in May, played in both their finals games before representing the Prime Minister’s XIII in Papua New Guinea.
Hetherington also made his debut for Penrith in 2018.
The 22-year-old played 13 games in a season interrupted by suspension.
It comes after current NSW team members Angus Crichton (Young) and Jack De Belin (Cootamundra) plus Jordan McLean (Young) were named in the extended NSW training squad.
