Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) encourages people to contact their regular GP this Christmas and New Year period as many general practices in the region will be offering extended opening hours.
Pharmacies also play a vital role in the delivery of after hours healthcare services with many also offering extended opening hours.
Celebrating 15 years of service to the Wagga community, the Wagga GP After Hours Service is available at 1/185 Morgan Street.
This service is delivered by GPs from 11 Wagga-based practices and bulk-bills children under 16, concession card holders, tertiary students and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Concession card or tertiary card holders must present their card at the time of the consultation.
Appointments can be made 30 minutes before the clinic opening time listed below by phoning 02 6931 0900.
MPHN CEO Melissa Neal said it was important people knew there were health services and support available during the holiday period.
“Should you or a family member need to access health services and support over the holidays, seeing if your local doctor is open is a good place to start,” she said.
“Pharmacists are also able to provide some guidance and support as well, so check your local chemist opening hours too.
“Wagga residents also have the benefit of the Wagga GP After Hours Service which continues to provide a great service for urgent, non-life-threatening treatment available during the after-hours period and on public holidays.
“There are a number of online resources and telephone support services available 24-seven and I encourage people to use these as well."
