We live in a digital age and everything seems to have a virtual presence but it’s really lovely to pick up a hard copy, particularly when it’s a lovely booklet full of adventure and intrigue. If you can hold it in your hand it seems to make the planning so much simpler.
Don’t worry we’re huge fans of having an up-to-date website but it’s a little difficult to make pencil circles on your screen and putting an electronic bookmark on something is just not the same as folding the edge of the page over. A booklet feels precious and special and ours is going to be beautiful.
The season will be launched on Tuesday, December 4 to this year’s subscribers, and then all the information will be readily available from Wednesday onwards.
We like to keep the details of the season under wraps until we launch the season so the individual shows remain a delightful surprise. If you’re like me and enjoy the pleasures of a hard copy booklet please call 6926 9688 or email the Box Office boxoffice@civictheatre.com.au and we’ll pop one in the mail for you. The Season Booklet will be online at www.civictheatre.com.au from Wednesday, December 5.

WE normally keep the entire season under wraps until after the official launch event, this year we’re sharing information about one show. The theatre has developed a new play, The Hall Committee, by playwright, actor and comedian Damian Callinan whose film The Merger has been screened nationally this year.
The Hall Committee has already been in development for well over 12 months, and Damian has interviewed local representatives from various halls.
Damian as the writer/director has been in the city this week running an intensive workshop, working with the cast and other professionals refining the script. The cast will feature four professional actors; including locals Stephen Holt and Isabel Mulrooney
The Hall Committee will draw you into the charms and challenges of village life. The Civic Theatre will hit the road to present this new original production in seven different halls. The tour will take place over a two-week period and we will encourage you to choose a location that you may not have visited before.
The Hall Committee will be available as a subscription choice from December 5. To become a Civic Theatre subscriber you need to select four shows from the season and you’ll enjoy multiple benefits. Single tickets go on sale in late January.
