A third teenage male was also arrested for his alleged involvement, which occurred about 10.30pm at Day Street.
Wagga Police Inspector Peter McLay alleged that the three teenagers dragged a 30-year-old man “to the ground and he was punched and kicked a number of times”.
“In addition to that, police will also allege he was struck with a skateboard,” Inspector McLay said.
“The young males approached this gentleman as he was walking home from work as a chef.
“We believe it’s a random attack.
“He sustained some fairly serious abrasion and got to undergo some x-rays.”
Inspector McLay said police continued to search for a backpack associated with the incident.
“The three males took off on foot towards the river where it’s believed they discarded the proceeds of a backpack,” he said.

The backpack, described as peacock blue in colour, is believed to be owned by the male victim.
The arrests came after an off-duty police officer was on his way home and saw the teenagers running from Tarcutta Street to Tompson Street.
“Police were alerted to their location and the three males were arrested a short time later in Tongaboo Lane,” Inspector McLay said.
The two teenagers charged with aggravated robbery were a 16-year-old from Forest Hill and a 15-year-old from Mount Austin.
They were granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on November 26.
The third teenager has been released pending further investigation.
Inspector McLay said the victim was “fairly shaken, understandably”.
“He would’ve no doubt spent the weekend in some degree of pain,” he said.
“He’s gone off to have some further x-rays and medical treatment this morning.”
Anyone with more information about the peacock blue backpack is urged to contact Wagga Police Station on 6922 2599.
