Ronda Lampe, president of Respect Awareness, said this week is about encouraging the community to respect each other.
“We decided it would be good to have a Respect Day and that is what this Wednesday is,” she said.
“We are encouraging the community to wear something purple or yellow or even just an accessory.
Ms Lampe said school children, emergency workers, residents and visitors should all be mindful of each other’s rights and the respect everyone deserves.
“Respect costs nothing but it would make such a big change to people’s lives,” she said.
“This is the 15th year we have had Respect Week and Respect Awareness has been going for 21 years.”
Benjamin Foster, 6, from Sturt Public School said everyone should make sure to treat each other with respect.
“If they can show you respect, then you can show them respect,” he said.
