Bristow, the younger brother of co-coach Dean Bristow, will return for his first season with the Blues since 2011.
The hooker got a taste of first grade that season, his last in the Weissel Cup, before moving to Brisbane and joining Wynnum Manly.
Last season he played in America winning a national championship with Jacksonville Axeman.
Dean Bristow is thrilled to have him on board.
“He’s played in some good competitions and what he brings to the table is great,” Bristow said.
“He’s one of the key players we wanted to go after and being a local junior you know what you’ll get out of them.
“To be able to entice him back to the club is definitely a good feather in the cap for us.”
Hooker was an unsettled position for the Blues following the departure of Jacob Toppin.
However Bristow’s arrival will change that.
“Everyone who played there did a good job last year but to have more of an established nine will be good,” Dean Bristow said.
“The blokes that we there last year we will definitely use them in a role as a back up to him and try to interchange them through but to have a more settled nine, one who has been there for their whole career, will be great.
“Especially playing off the back of the forward pack we will have.”
The 29-year-old is also looking forward to the chance of playing alongside his brother for the first time.
“We’ve never played footy together and I couldn’t have thought of a better time to do it really,” Dean Bristow said.
“Things are starting to build along nicely and I don’t know how many years of footy I have left in me so to convince him to come back and have a year together is very exciting for myself.”
The hooker is the latest new face at the Blues.
Tumut have been one of the busier Group Nine clubs in what was been a quiet off-season so far.
There are hopes more Blues former juniors will follow suit and return home as they look to make a return to finals after missing out last season.
