A half century to Jon Nicoll and 42 from newcomer Tom Burge set the tone at McPherson Oval.
Nicoll made before 53 being stumped off Justin Ward’s bowling.
However there were a number of contributors for the Cats with Mitch Cawley (25) and captain Josh Thompson (22) also chipping in.
Set 228 for victory, English import Beck Forstick got Saints off on the right note scoring 73 off 78 balls at the top of the order.
Forstick and Brendan Gale (32) put on 66 for the second wicket but St Michaels lost plenty of momentum when Gale was judged leg before wicket off Harry Rosengren’s bowling.
Saints lost 3-6 and while Eric Koetz (25 not out) and Jared Koetz (19 not out) put on a partnership worth 56 the chase never looked likely once the wickets started to tumble.
