Rebecca Wilson, from Ladysmith, said she came across psychic readings when she needed to assist her husband with the family income.
“I got to a certain point in my life where I needed to help my husband and bring income in and I thought what do I do?,” she questioned.
“I started with crystals and that led to a holistic counselling course, which opened a whole range of modalities to me, so I just kept researching and doing things until I found something that I really loved.
“I was on a search of finding myself too, because I think you get to a certain point and age in life where your kids have grown up and left and I always knew I was family but I needed to be something more.”
Mrs Wilson said she came across astrology and numerology because she wanted to find out who she was and what she was looking for.
“I believe both astrology and numerology give you a life manual,” she said.
“The universe gave you hints and these come through the stars and your birth name and other signs.
“My idea is not forecasting, but it’s for you to understand yourself and why people do things.”
Mrs Wilson said people are aligned with either fire, water, earth and air elements, which cross into their star signs:
- Fire – enthusiasm, blunt and honesty.
- Water – sensitive, “hold everything close”
- Earth – practical, logical and break things down.
- Air – social and “detach everything”.
Not every star sign will have the same elements and Mrs… said the 10 planets are all in different elements.
“It’s not just knowing your sign or your moon, but knowing how it’s all put together,” she said.
Similarly Wagga local Wendy Smith, from Wendy’s Lifted Up By Angels, said she experienced a “spiritual awakening” five years ago, which led her onto a path of discovery.
“I had what is called a spiritual awakening, so I sort of call it a spiritual storm as everything turned upside down at the same time in my life and that’s when I discovered crystals and card readings,” Ms Smith said.
“Over the past five years, I’ve gradually done a bit of study on some things, taught myself on other things and I’ve had some business opportunities come up with the crystals.
“Everything has just fallen into place and flowed and that’s how we know in the spiritual world that this is the right course.”
Ms Smith runs her spiritual business including psychic readings and is also a qualified reiki and crystal healer.
“Crystal healing is about using your energy healing abilities that you have with crystals,” she said.
“We intuitively get messages about which crystals would be best to use and we also get told what part of the body to put them on.
“Crystals like amethyst and rose quartz help with people who have either experienced a break-up or who are traumatised.
“We place these crystals on the body while we’re doing the healing and give them crystals to take home and use on themselves before they go to bed,” Ms Smith said.
Over November 17 and 18, the Wagga Showgrounds hosted a spiritual and psychic expo, which brought vendors from as far as Gippsland giving readings, healings and crystal imagery stalls.
For those that are not believers, Ms Smith said everyone is “entitled to their beliefs” and she has no problem with it.
“Everyone has different opinions about things, even within the spiritual community some people think differently to how things work,” she said.
“Each to their own; I don’t have an issue at all.
“I quite often get husbands with ladies that come for readings and they usually end up leaving the session slightly converted.”
