Musicians from Kooringal Public School, Sturt Public School, Lake Albert Public School, South Wagga Public School and Tumut Public School spent all Friday rehearsing, said RCM deputy director Jenny Binovec.
“It’s a great way for the students to perform in a bigger group and make friends at other schools,” she said.
“It’s important for kids to see music learning across the board.”
Ms Binovec joked that it was a piece of cake trying to direct so many students at once.
“To work with the students and see the progress in one day is something really special,” she said.
This year was the sixth Combined Public Schools Band Day, which after a full day of rehearsing performed a concert that evening from 5:30pm on the lawns of the RCM for parents and friends.
Five RCM ensembles and the RCM Concert Band also joined in.
