Sutherland finished a close second in last year’s feature as Gentleman Max was edged out by Mercurial Lad in a photo finish.
Sutherland has My Maher in this year’s edition, who will be ridden by Kayla Nisbet.
“We’ll take some beating,” Sutherland said at the SDRA Awards Night on Wednesday.
My Maher has six wins to her name from 18 starts. She was transferred to Sutherland’s stable this preparation and has won a couple of races for him, including one at Gundagai over 1400 metres in September.
She finished sixth last start behind Not Too Sure in the Stan Sadleir Stakes at Wagga.
My Maher is a $16 chance with TAB.
