After taking a win in the Twenty20 on Friday, Colts were in a strong position in the first of the one-dayers before it all fell away.
Hanigan and Dave Bolton saw the side out of early trouble only for their hard work to be undone as Colts went from being 2-175 with 10 overs left to being bowled out for 206.
The skipper wants more up against Harris Park on Saturday.
“They are the team to beat this year in my eyes,” Hanigan said.
“They’ve always got the best team around and when they have a full team on the paddock they are very hard to stop.
“It should be interesting to see how we go on Saturday but we need to win after last week and will be doing everything we can to get that win.”
In a blow for the Colts, Sam Whitfield will miss the clash at Harris Park however an in-form Zac Hines will take his place after a century in second grade last weekend.
South Wagga got the better of Colts when the two teams met in a Twenty20 to start the season but Hanigan doesn’t take too much from it.
“Twenty20 and one-day cricket is a little bit different in Wagga Cricket,” he said.
“They had four or five players out and still beat us and are only going to get stronger again.”
Hanigan is looking for more support in the batting line up for Bolton.
Bolton is the competition’s leading runscorer so far this season, but needs other to stand up around him.
“Our bowling hasn’t been too bad, I’ve been pretty happy with our fielding, but we need consistency with our batting,” Hanigan said.
“Obviously Bolts has been batting really well but at the end of the day he’s not going to get a 100 for us every week.
“He knows that and we know that so we need other people to stand up.”
