Not only was focus on our Australian Defence Force personnel who lost their lives then (61,560 died) but on the world-wide population including Australians who were killed – between 15 and 19 billion people. And, no, we will never forget them.

THE 8th Outback Band Spectacular took place in Leeton last weekend with the highlight of the event – a mass band concert – on Saturday at the Roxy Theatre.
About 200 people appeared on stage and crowd attendance on the night was around 150 people. The evening, and the weekend, certainly lived up to expectations.

A NEW solar farm in Avonlie is expected to bring around 330 jobs to Narrandera Shire. Construction of solar farms are also planned for Yarabee and Sandigo in 2019. In the construction phase 200 direct jobs will be on offer until completion of the job and three to four full-time staff will be required during construction; and maintenance phase of 25 to 30 years.
According to project development manager Mike Whitbread, employment benefits extend to local supply chains such as “fuel supply, vehicle servicing, uniform suppliers, hotels, motels, B&Bs, cafes, pubs, catering and cleaning companies, tradespersons, tool and equipment suppliers and many other businesses”.
