Applications for the position with Regional Development Australia-Riverina close on November 25.
Previous chairperson Miriam Dayhew resigned after accepting a position with the NSW Department of Planning, so Kerry Penton, the regional general manager south of TAFE NSW, is currently filling the role in an acting capacity.
The RDA network was introduced by then-Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash in August 2017.
Current RDA-Riverina programs include workforce development initiatives such as Jobs Riverina, Country Change and Skilled Migration; supporting Taste Riverina and Grow Our Own Western Riverina; and providing regional statistics, demographic data, economic impact analysis and other support for projects and grant applications.
Seven new members have joined three existing ones on the Riverina committee.
In addition to Ms Penton, Adjunct Professor at Charles Sturt University Deirdre Lemerle and Dean Hawkins from Visy Pulp and Paper are remaining on the committee.
The newcomers are Gary Lavelle from Temora Shire Council, Christine Howard from the Three Rivers University Department of Rural Health, farm owner Bradley Kent, Sue Molyneaux from Casella Family Brands, Iva Quarisa from the Irrigation Research and Extension Committee, Robyn Harvey from Snowy Valleys Council and Shaun Duffy from Great Southern Electrical.
