Gundagai-Adelong Race Club received 28 nominations on Monday for the feature race, headlined by Canberra Cup winner Almost Court.
The former Kiwi is one of four nominations from the Barbara Joseph, Paul Jones and Matt Jones team.
They have entered defending champion, Mercurial Lad, along with Darts Away and Rock On Zariz.
Cootamundra Cup winner Dream Of Paris,is nominated for Albury trainer Mitch Beer, as well as Wagga's Kosciuszko runner O' So Hazy.
Last-start Highway Handicap winner Handle The Truth may tackle the Snake Gully Cup at just his eighth start, while the Graham Payne-trained Kentucky Flyer will enter the race on the back of two feature race wins.
Aside from O' So Hazy, Wagga is well represented among the nominations with Not Too Sure, Class Clown, Fermanagh Lad, Gentleman Max, My Maher and Zarlu.
Gundagai-Adelong Race Club secretary Len Tozer is delighted by the response from owners and trainers.
"The nominations are very good. Very good quality and big numbers," Tozer said.
"We've got the better horses from around the area, both from Canberra and the local area, in the Snake Gully Cup so it should be a very good race."
Gundagai Racecourse received 28 millimetres of rain last week to help get the track in top condition.
There is rain forecast for this week, which Tozer said would only help.
"There is rain forecast for Wednesday but it would be more beneficial than do any harm," he said.
Tozer expects a big couple of days of racing at Gundagai.
"Everything is A ok," he said.
"The crowd numbers should be excellent given the amount of people that have indicated they are coming."
In total, 203 nominations were received for Friday’s eight-race showcase meeting, with another 171 for Saturday’s second day of the carnival.
