Drama concluded the big three weeks of exams, with 12 students from Kildare Catholic College walking out of their last exam relieved that it was all over.
The school’s drama teacher Michael Mack said it has been challenging for students to keep the “momentum” going as some of their peers finished a week earlier.
Year 12 student Molly Garry said she feels “very relieved” the exam period has come to an end.
“It hasn’t really kicked in yet that the whole two years I’ve been working towards this, is done and it doesn’t matter anymore,” she said.
“I’m really happy, it’s very euphoric and I can relax now without feeling bad that I’m procrastinating.”
Ms Garry said she is feeling mixed reactions about her performance during her exams.
“Overall, some exams were really bad; the English Paper 1 is usually something that I’m pretty confident with but I wasn’t expecting it and you just have to make the best with what you’ve got,” she said.
“But others were pretty good like the drama exam, I was pretty happy with it.”
School captain Amy Li said the exam period has been “a little bit grueling” and is she is ready to celebrate.
“It was a long stretch and by the end of it, it becomes a bit tedious, but I just feel really good,” she said.
“Partying is next for me, then waiting for results, going on holiday and then hopefully off to university.
“I’m thinking about doing a Bachelor of Art at the University of Melbourne.”
A total of 76,732 students across the state have completed at least one HSC exam and Education Minister Rob Stokes congratulated all participants.
“Congratulations on your incredible achievement in reaching this significant milestone,” Mr Stokes said.
“Now that the exam period is over, it’s time to celebrate and enjoy the moment before considering your next steps.
“Life is a marathon, not a sprint and now that you have finished school there are so many pathways to success for you to consider in further study and work.”
With exams over, more than 5500 HSC markers are currently busy marking more than 350,000 exams, containing more than eight million pages so students can start receiving results from December 13 via text or email.
