THE CAD Factory, under the leadership of Vic McEwan, has received the national 2018 Australian Prize for Distinctive Work by the Council for Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences. Although there were 108 entries; this recognition was unanimous. The special award was presented last week at the organisation’s annual awards dinner in Melbourne.

The Harmonic Oscillator project was a collaborative effort by the UK/Australian partnership between medicine and the arts.
Perhaps UK collaborator Clive Parkinson, Manchester Metropolitan University summed it up best when he said of Vic McEwan: “As a collaborator in this work, I held up his practice to close scrutiny in my essay Critical Care, which not only revealed nuance and sophistication in his work, but a deeper and more profound impact on the lives of people, where arts participation offers a rich counter blast to the barrage of invasive treatments - and perhaps - something far more profound than simple distraction.”

NARRNADERA Hospital Auxiliary’s dinner last Saturday night was very enjoyable with excellent food, about 100 people attending and guest speaker Julia Sheppard journalist, author and teacher. Julia spoke about her personal life, career opportunities, the Azaria Chamberlain and Anita Cobby cases; and the connection which developed between her and the Lynch family.
Julia gifted her travel expenses, role as guest speaker and proceeds from any books sold on the night to the auxiliary.
