Newcombe has returned to Lake Albert this season and faces the Cats for the first time.
He’s looking forward to the challenge of taking on the undefeated team.
“I reckon they are one of the teams to beat and they have a great side,” Newcombe said.
“They’ve got great bowlers and batters so this is will probably be our biggest test.”
Newcombe left Lake Albert for the Cats midway through the 2016-17 season but with father Graeme coaching the Bulls this season it was an easy choice to come back.
It seems to be working with Newcombe the third leading runscorer so far this season.
He’s excelled at the top of the order and hopes it can continue at Rawlings Park Turf.
“Opening the batting is pretty the batting is new to me, but I’ve got a bit of confidence out of doing that plus the old man, being the coach, has helped me out a lot,” Newcombe said.
“It has been good.”
Lake Albert will be without Lachy Skelly for the clash but Wagga City’s Aaron Maxwell will also miss due to Riverina representative duties.
Jon Nicoll is the big danger.
“We have to get Jonny early,” Newcombe said.
“I didn’t get him out in all the times I bowled to him in the nets.”
