In a repeat of last year’s decider, Dolphins 1 emerged 7-4 winners to stamp their claim as competition favourites.
Octopuses 1 also found some form in the pool, blasting past Dolphins 2 in a high-scoring 11-5 affair to round out the A-grade fixtures.
Meanwhile, there was plenty of banter in the all-Raiders affair with the old boys getting up over their younger counterparts 5-1.
“Dave Foster was a real standout for the old boys in that game,” Raiders spokesperson Duncan Ritchie said.
“The young boys did alright but their fitness probably let them down in the end.
“There were a fair few that hadn’t played before and I think they stepped up for it really well.”
Round three kicks off Monday next week.
