Both Matthew Thomas Cahill and Joshua Aaron Byrne, who are charged with Mr Smith’s manslaughter, had their cases heard before Wagga Local Court on Wednesday.
Mr Cahill, who is facing seven charges, including a backup charge of aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death, is set to face a three-day hearing before the Wagga Local Court on May 15.
Mr Byrne, who is facing five charges, including a backup charge of aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death at a speed of more than 45km/h over the limit, will also return to court on May 15.
Both men will remain on bail until they return to court next year.
