The eldest, Joyce Salan, 89, is pictured holding Cooper and is surrounded by loved ones including his mother Emily Gibbons, grandmother and great-great-aunty. 

Elaine Whitlock, 70, was overjoyed to bring her great-great-nephew Cooper John Douglas into the tight-knit family. 

“We’re overrun by females and it’s lovely to have a big family, it feels good but hopefully they don’t all grow up and move away,” Mrs Whitlock said. 

“I’ve lived in Wagga all my life and I don’t know any other family who has five generations here, but I’m sure there are others.” 

Cooper’s grandmother Louise Gibbons, 44, was thrilled with the arrival of her daughter’s son.

“It was fantastic news and we are overrun by girls so it was nice to welcome another boy into the family,” she said. 

“I find this whole five generation thing so rare, but it’s unique, amazing and really special. 

“It’s pretty cool, isn’t it?” 

Mrs Whitlock and Ms Gibbons both agreed that the family are all “a bit forgetful” and said it might be a running trait with Cooper.
