Ben Byrne will head into Saturday’s third round with a four-shot lead after producing a marvelous second round at the Wagga Country Club Championships on Sunday.

Byrne went stroke for stroke with Kyle Tuckett on Saturday for a round one return of 74 before peeling away from the pack with a one-under par 71 to stand clear at 145.
Two-time winner Henry Brind was another to impress during Sunday’s play, shooting a par 72 to back up his first round 77, and currently sits four shots behind Byrne at 149.
Luke Chisholm (151) was another to improve in the second round, shooting 76 and 75 respectively to take third place at the midway point ahead of Tuckett and defending champion Bart Carroll, both of whom shot for 152 across the opening two rounds.
Will Mitchell (153), Scott Blandford and Brenton Roberts (155) remain outside chances in A-grade.
Xavier Nugent (162) will take a one-shot lead into the B-grade final round.
