South Wagga scored nine runs in the first innings as young Turvey pitcher Makaylee Little struggled against the strong Warriors batters.
After lead-off batter Kristy Tennison was out at first before Jess Swaysland produced a safe hit before Warriors scored off a Montana Kearnes hit.
The Kearnes trio in Montana, Jane and Layhnee were all batted in off a strong hit from Simone Jorgenson.
Sam O’Neill, Carmel Hutchinson and Jayla Nix then all crossed the plate safely. Tennison and Swaysland also recorded runs off a safe three-base hit to Montana Kearnes and the innings finally ended for Warriors when Jane Kearnes was caught.
Turvey Park needed a strong start in their first turn at bat and for a fleeting moment it looked possible when their lead-off batter Sarah Carter was walked by Warriors pitcher Tennison but when Kalee Gibbons was struck out, Stacey Hawkins and Jade Olsen were both out at first with Amanda Gooden was the only other batter that got on base.
Turvey managed to stem the flow of runs in Warriors second innings when Layhnee Kearnes and Jorgenson were both caught by Gooden at shortstop and O’Neill was out at first after they made a change of pitcher from Little to Jade Olsen.
However Turvey did not fare much better at their second bat with Belinda Dennis and Little both being caught before Julieann Hallam got a safe hit to left field as did Charli McNaughton but when Hallam was caught up in a trap play with O’Neill, Jane Kearnes and Tennison at third base Turvey lost the opportunity to score their first run.
Warriors scored another three runs in their next innings when Jayla Nix hit safely to left field to make second. Tennison made first courtesy of an error by Belinda Dennis at third base they were both batted in off a Montana Kearnes safe hit to again to left field to bring their total to twelve.
Turvey again failed with the bat when Gibbons was out at first, Hawkins was caught by Tennison and Gooden was caught in the outfield by Nix.
Warriors also failed to add to their score in their fourth innings but the damage to Turvey had already been done.
The only shining light for Turvey in this innings was they managed to pull off a double play to dismiss O’Neill and Tennison to end the innings.
Turvey already looking down the barrel of a whitewash again failed with the bat with only Dennis making base off a rare walk from Montana Kearnes after Jade Olsen was out at first and Little got a safe hit to right field which resulted in Dennis being tagged out at home after a relay involving Nix, Kearnes and O’Neill and when Hallam struck out Warriors took the win and a healthy boost to their statistics for the season.
Turvey Park will enjoy the bye next week while Warriors will take on Saints, who enjoyed the bye this weekend.
