The NSW Champions of Sport Ceremony celebrates the achievements of athletes, coaches, administrators and organisations from across the state.

Geppert, the southern NSW AFL game development manager, has been recognised for his work in developing women’s Australian rules, establishing three all-girls Auskick centres, four schoolgirl competitions and six senior and youth girls’ competitions. 

Wagga Council is a finalist in the organisations category for bringing a number of major events to the city including the Sydney Thunder v Adelaide Strikers Women’s Big Bash League matches, the Gears and Beers cycling festival, Bowls NSW Interzone State titles, ACT Brumbies Super 7 finals, Hockey NSW Under 13 State Championships and Little Athletics State Multi Event. 

Sport NSW Chairperson, Joseph La Posta, congratulated the finalists, including Geppert and Wagga Council, saying they have represented NSW sport with honour and distinction over the past 12 months.

“Our nominated athletes and organisations have excelled at the highest levels and we congratulate them on their outstanding achievements. They have made an immense contribution to sport and to our state,” La Posta said. 

“Sport is a key element of every community across NSW. Sport promotes healthy living, drives societal change and binds communities together, and our finalists are lightning rods of inspiration for athletes, coaches and administrators of all ages and abilities.”

The awards ceremony will be held at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney on November 27.
