Riverina Highlands RFS has urged caution as severe lightning has been forecast as possible for the region on Friday.

“Hot and stormy weather predicted for November with a good chance of dry lightning associated with the storms,” the RFS posted on Facebook.
“Expect to see a a few Total Fire Bans for Tomorrow with Southern Slopes Fire Area likely.”
On Thursday, the RFS declared Total Fire Bans for November 2 in Greater Hunter, Greater Sydney, Southern Ranges, and Illawarra and Shoalhaven.
“Southern Slopes Fire Area will remain at ‘Very High’ (fire danger rating), permits are suspended,” the RFs stated.
“Wind gusts are predicted to reach 60 kilomtres per hour in our area. Postpone any activity likely to start a fire.”
The Lower Central West Plains, Southern Slopes and Eastern Riverina have been declared areas of ‘Very High’ fire danger ratings for Friday.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast ‘possible severe thunderstorms’ for areas between Griffith, West Wyalong, Yass and Albury.
