The city recorded a maximum temperature of 37.6 degrees at 2.45pm on Thursday, after a mild overnight low of 16.9 degrees, which was clocked just after 6am.
Thursday’s maximum was much higher than the long-term average for November of 25.9 degrees.
Friday is likely to be another stinker, with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting a top of 37 degrees.
Thunderstorms and a few millimetres of rain are also being predicted for Friday, ahead of a much cooler day on Saturday.
There are also warnings about possible lightning strikes.
While the thunderstorms are not expected to deliver much rain, they are going to bring some cooler weather, with Saturday expected to reach a much milder 27 degrees and Sunday a slightly warmer 30 degrees.
