The event by Wagga Model Railroaders on November 3–4 at the showgrounds will have model train layouts and displays, model ships, model building and clinics, trade stands, trike displays and railway memorabilia.

Exhibition manager Dave Edgar, 63, said it was more than just displays.

“A lot of people think it’s a model railroading show, but there are all sorts of other things as well,” he said.

“We’ve got model cars doing demos as well.

“Other people will be doing clinics, showing you soldering and how to paint.

“So there’s education, too, and you can get supplies you can’t get in Wagga.”

There will be 22 exhibitors and 15 trades stall, as well as a massive Lego display.

“It’d be set up on two ping-pong tables and animated,” Mr Edgar said.

“There will also be a little layout for kids as well, so the event’s for young and old.”

One of the exhibitors this year will be 64-year-old Garry Walden, whose exhibition has been in the works for three years.

“It’s my baby, I call it Bobcat County,” Mr Walden said.

“It’s the third time it’d be exhibited.”

Mr Walden, whose been a train enthusiast for three decades, said the rock work and waterfalls were two of the main challenges.

“And electrical wiring, which I had assistance from a close relative,” he said.

“There was a lot of testing.”

One of the jewels that will be on show is the club’s original layout, called Stockinbingal.

“After 13 years, It’s been located, resurrected and refurbished,” Mr Walden said.

“It’ll be making its first appearance at our exhibition.”

Model Railway and Hobby Exhibition is on this Saturday and Sunday.
