Grintell and Brooker have been appointed non-playing coaches of the Eagles, replacing Jim Quinn Medallist Jarred Lane after two years in the job.
Grintell coached Narrandera for four seasons from 2006 to 2009, while Brooker led the Eagles to the 2012 premiership alongside Jim Rice and is back for his third stint in charge.
Grintell is confident the pair will work well together.
“We’re two different people with two different approaches so I think we’ll bounce off each other pretty good,” Grintell said.
“I had been thinking about it for a little while and didn’t have the time to do it on my own so this will work out well.”
Brooker is excited to be coaching the Eagles again.
“I’m looking forward to it. It’s going to be a good challenge,” Brooker said.
“Jamie and I are different coaches but it will be good to work with him.
“There is a good bunch of young guys on the list, some who have had a season or two in first grade now so hopefully we can help them take the next step in their footy development.
“It’s a challenge I’m looking forward to.”
The pair are under no illusions as to the task in front of them.
Narrandera have not won a game for the past two seasons but were much more competitive this year.
Grintell and Brooker have already set their sights on a goal for next year.
“We’ve already spoken about it and we want to try and win five games,” Grintell said.
“I think we’ll maintain most of our list so I think we will improve again. We improved a lot this year and we only just missed out on a couple of wins right at the end.”
Lane is away on an extended holiday but the Eagles are confident of retaining him for next season.
Narrandera’s appointment leaves Turvey Park as the only club remaining to announce their senior coach.
The Bulldogs are expected to announce the appointment of co-coaches from within the club in coming days.
