Both accused will face Wagga Local Court again on November 7.
Police said the 27-year-old victim, who is a father of three children, sustained a fractured skull and bleeding to his brain after he was hit in the face with a shovel.
The incident occurred on Raye Street near Brookes Circle, Tolland.
The victim was airlifted to St George Hospital, Sydney, for surgery where he remains on life support.
Wagga Police Detective Inspector Darren Cloake said the latest update from medical staff was that the victim remained unconscious.
“The victim’s family is at his bedside and is hoping for the best,” he said.
Yesterday, officers from Riverina Police District and Southern Region Enforcement Squad established Strike Force Levien to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
