Anthony Shane Hagan, 20, was transported from his jail cell to Wagga Local Court on Wednesday morning to enter his plea of guilty.
When Hagan arrived, his original charge of murder was withdrawn and substituted for the lesser charge of accessory after the fact to murder.
Documents tendered to the court described Hagan’s role in disposing of Ms Boyd’s body after she was allegedly shot to death on August 10 last year.
Hagan admitted to taking her body from about five kilometres south of Coolamon, where she was killed, to a remote location within the Lester State Forest
Once there, Hagan helped to dig Ms Boyd’s grave and covered her body with dirt and small branches.
He later accompanied a tow-truck, which was called to remove the vehicle Ms Boyd’s body was transported in, to a rural property at Borambola.
He poured petrol all over the car and set fire to it with the intention of destroying it and any evidence within it relating to Ms Boyd.
Hagan was arrested on October 11 last year regarding unrelated driving offences and denied having any knowledge of Allecha Boyd’s disappearance.
He continued to deny his involvement in the incident until January 16, when he participated in a voluntary interview with police.
During that interview, he told police his previous interviews with them had been “a crock of s---, because I was scared”, before making full admissions to his part in the incident.
Police conducted two more searches of the Lester State Forest based on Hagan’s information, but have been unable to locate Ms Boyd’s body to date.
On Wednesday, magistrate Christopher Halburd committed Hagan to the Supreme Court of Sydney for a sentencing date to be set.
“You are committed for sentence to the Supreme Court at Sydney on December 7, 2018, and that’s for arraignment,” Mr Halburd said.
“Then, it will be a matter for the court to decide as to whether the court will sit in Wagga for the ultimate sentence date.”
Another man, 37-year-old Samuel John Shephard, remains charged with Ms Boyd’s murder.
He has pleaded not guilty, and will return to court on March 20 for a committal hearing.
Hagan also entered pleas of guilty to two other charges on Wednesday morning – possessing a prohibited firearm and supplying a prohibited drug, both of which stemmed from incidents unrelated to Ms Boyd’s murder.
Documents tendered to the court revealed police were conducting patrols in Central Wagga last August when they found Hagan and two other people in a car at Jubilee Park.
When they searched him, they found a set of electronic scales concealed in his jacket, five resealable plastic bags containing ice in the glove compartment, and $430 cash.
He told police “all that stuff in the bag is mine” was charged with supplying 7.98 grams of methylamphetamine.
Then, in November, police went to Gurwood Street on reports Hagan was threatening to self-harm just a day after they intercepted phone calls suggesting he was trying to acquire a firearm.
Police surrounded the premises and were able to arrest him eight minutes after arriving, charging him with possessing an unauthorised loaded sawn off .22 single shot bolt action rifle.
He was committed to the Wagga District Court for sentencing on both of those matters, and will appear in person on November 23 so a final sentencing date can be set.
