The awards were held on September 21 with a raft of builders and designers acknowledged, both as finalists and winners.
In his opening address, HIA Wagga Branch chairman Glenn Sewell (pictured) said the technical and physical requirements for building or renovating a house could be overlooked.
“We should be proud of accomplishments and the effort taken on behalf of our clients,” Mr Sewell said.
“(These awards) celebrate our achievements amongst our peers and others by showcasing building excellence, quality and attention to detail.”
Mr Sewell was clear on the importance of the housing industry to the community.
“It is an exciting time for Wagga Wagga,” he said. “Our city is known as a regional capital and has been identified as an area of significant growth.
“With growth comes great opportunity as well as great challenges. Wagga Wagga, as a destination that can provide affordable housing, is gaining traction and promotes decentralisation. The link between investment and growth is undeniable.”

The 2016-17 HIA Land Monitor Report identified 347 lots constructed, which will need to increase to about 600 lots if a predicted population of 100,000 people is to be achieved.
As a result, it has been forecast that the construction industry will be the second-largest source of employment for Wagga behind health and ahead of education.
