Police Detective Inspector Darren Cloake also said they have seized more than 100 grams of a crystal-like substance.
“We believe it may be methamphetamine,” he said.
“It’d be worth between $14,000 and $39,000.
“We’re pretty certain that the motivation is drug usage and supply.”
He said the male victim, who remains at Wagga Base Hospital for treatment, continued to be uncooperative with police inquiries.
“He was stabbed on one hand and possibly a broken arm,” Detective Inspector Cloake said.
“We’re still seeking further information and any witnesses to come forward.”
Earlier: Wagga police are seeking two men after they allegedly forced entry into a central Wagga unit and assaulted another man.
At about 6.30am today, police attended a unit complex on the corner of Thorne Street and The Esplanade where a man in his 20s sustained injuries to his upper body and face.
Three police units attended where the entrance of the building was cordoned off.
Wagga Police Detective Inspector Darren Cloake alleged that it was “a targeted attack and there’s evidence that drugs were a strong influence and motivator”.
“We’ll allege that it was an aggravated break and enter involving two males who forced entry into a residence where a single male has been assaulted,” Detective Inspector Cloake said.
There’s evidence that drugs were a strong influence and motivator.

“Police have established a crime scene and are processing it by way of forensic examinations.
“The drug that we believe is involved is methamphetamine, or ice.”
The ages of the two alleged men are unknown at this stage but police believe they are from Wagga.
“We believe the men also know each other as there seems to be strong connections there,” Detective Inspector Cloake said.
The male occupant of the unit was treated by paramedics at the scene.
“Information is scarce at this stage due to the uncooperative nature of the male who was assaulted,” Detective Inspector Cloake said.
“The crime scene is still being processed.”
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said they received the call to the scene at about 6.40am.
“The man in his 30s had a possible broken arm and bleeding mouth at the time of treatment,” the spokesperson said.
“He was conscious and breathing, and taken to Wagga Base Hospital in a stable condition.”
Anyone with further information about this incident is urged to contact Wagga Police Station on 6922 2599 or Crime Stoppers NSW on 1800 333 000.
