At about 6am today, Turvey Park Fire and Rescue NSW were called to a single-vehicle fire at one of the fire trails near the Music Bowl.
Station Commander Chad Kennis said the vehicle was “totally destroyed by the fire” and it was fortunate a larger fire did not begin.
“A small grass area was also burnt this morning, but it could’ve been worse” he said.
“It [crew members’ arrival] was a bit delayed because the fire was on a trail and was hard to find.
“The fire took about 20 minutes to extinguish.”

Mr Kennis said that police also attended as the incident was suspicious, which takes car fires in Wagga to more than 80 for this year.
“The police will notify the owner,” he said.
As the warmer months approach, Mr Kennis urged residents to report any sighting of suspicious vehicles, particularly near grass areas and trails.
“Coming into summer, there’s that danger with bush fires.
“The fire trails shouldn’t have vehicles parked – it’s dangerous and suspicious, so if anyone sees that, they should report it to triple zero.”
Detective Inspector Darren Cloake urged residents to continue reporting any suspicious activities involving vehicles on trails.
“Certainly any incidents that are unlawful that arise, residents should bring them to our attention,” he said.
