NSW coach Brent Livermore handed state debuts to Martin and fellow Australian under 21 representatives Hayden Dillon and Ehren Hazell following their return from the Burras’ bronze medal effort at the Sultan of Johor Cup in Malaysia.
Martin’s inclusion couldn’t save the Waratahs from slumping to a 3-1 defeat against his former side, Canberra Lakers.
Martin plied his trade with Cavaliers Hockey Club as a youngster but has since made his mark on the national stage with a series of strong performances for the Australian under 21s.
He was a member of the gold medal-winning side that took out the Sultan of Johor Cup last year and has been earmarked as a future Kookaburra after taking out the 2017 Rising Star Award for best junior player in the Sydney Premier League.
