Fresh from their successful application to field three women’s teams in the Canberra-based NPL competition, the Wanderers have wasted no time in finalising senior coaching selections and, more recently, prospective junior coaches for the season ahead.
The likes of established seniors Kyle Yeates, Caylum Barber and Daniel Okot have been enlisted to steer the youth sides while talented prospects Zac Pinney and Sam Jones will also be involved in the coaching process
Football Wagga development officer and under 20s Wanderers coach Liam Dedini said the selections were part of a wider strategy to adopt a more “hands-on” approach to coaching junior sides and encouraging senior players to assist with the club’s next generation.
“We’re really trying to get the senior guys involved with the skills acquisition program (SAP) and we want a clear structure for those junior teams,” Dedini said.
“We’re looking at having a coach, assistant coach, and a senior player involved with every side. We think its good for the SAP kids and I think it’s also good for those under 15s and under 16s guys pushing for a senior Wanderers spot to get some coaching experience and help out in the club.”
