Jenny Skidmore, 27, and Sarah Fox, 36, met at a yoga class and formed a fast friendship.
“I was not feeling great and suffering from post-natal depression and thought giving back to the community would help me deal with that,” Ms Fox said.
Ms Fox lost her maternal grandmother to breast cancer and said the disease has affected most people.
“Jenny and I decided to choose Breast Cancer Foundation and I was going to host a picnic in the park, but then Jenny is an events manager and said ‘if we are going to raise money, let’s do it properly’,” she said.
Ms Skidmore is from Scotland and wanted to use the fundraiser as a way to celebrate different cultures.
“Wagga is really diverse,” she said.
“We have a few different stalls with food around the world, educational stalls and it will all be family-friendly.
“People have really jumped on board because we’re just two local mums who are trying to raise money for charity while wrangling their four kids in total.”
The duo agreed having an outlet meant they could get out of the rut they were sometimes in.
“It forces you to do something with your days because it can be quite lonely being a mum,” Ms Skidmore said.
“It gives us something to work towards,” Ms Fox agreed.
The mums encourage families and residents to grab a picnic blanket and come on down to enjoy the stunning surroundings of Wagga Botanical Gardens on October 28, from 10am to 4pm.
The cost is a gold coin donation upon entry with a portion of stall profits also being donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
“The generosity of the community has been amazing,” Ms Fox said.
