The skillful midfielder shared the captain’s armband with standout defender Lincoln Weir during a resurgent season for United’s Pascoe Cup outfit and drew plenty of praise from club selectors and team mates alike.
Hope also snapped five goals and was a worthy dual recipient of both the players’ player award and the player of the season gong in just his first season at Duke of Kent Oval.
Weir collected the best in finals award while Dan Cain and Nazar Yousif picked up prizes for best young player and most goals scored respectively.
Untied coach Travis Weir said Hope had been among his side’s most consistent all year.
“He’s great and he’s always been great for us since arriving at the club,” Weir said.
“He talks well, he organises well in the middle of the park and while he might not score the most goals for us, his work off the ball in incredible.
“I’d say he’s a really clever footballer and he’s only going to get better as well.”
Weir remains excited at the prospect of having Hope in his 2019 squad as co-captain.
“He’ll keep on leading with Lincoln next year … and hopefully we can improve on what was a really good season for us.”
Weir collected the best in finals award while Dan Cain and Nazar Yousif picked up prizes for best young player and most goals scored.
In the women’s prizes, Catherina Fsdani was awarded the players’ player award for her standout season in the Leonard Cup side while Felicity Kerslake and Melanie Parker collected the best and fairest award and coaches award respectively.
Molly Antone was named the side’s most improved player with Jessica Simpson picking up the team player award.
Shandi Gibbons and Scott Rohrich were named as dual club persons of the year.
