The event also served as a reunion for many staff who worked together during the 1980s and 90s.
Former sports journalist Doug Gorrel said about 50 people gathered for the celebration at the Murrumbidgee Turf Club on Saturday.
“It was a great night, and on Friday there was a few at The William Farrer. There were a lot of guys from sports as well as as few off the comp floor and the press room,” he said.
“A lot of old faces and there was a lot of reminiscing and catching up with events of the past.”
Mr Gorrel’s father, Graham, also served as the newspaper’s editor.
Graham thanked attendees, including some from overseas, for making the effort to travel to the event, including printer Fred Tier, who started in the 1960s.
