Bruce Ryan, president of the Wagga Show Society, said it has been vacant for about five years.
“There are no plans to replace it will a new development, we’re going to leave it as free and open space,” Mr Ryan said.
“I think it will open up more area for outdoor events because the building itself is beyond economical repair.
“It doesn’t meet current standards and the logical future is just to demolish it, as it serves no purpose.”
Dating back to the 1930s, Mr Ryan said he believed the hall was used as a pavilion for local businesses during the Wagga Show.
“Times have changed, it’s an eyesore now and the only comments on buildings we get at the showgrounds is the Craft Hall,” he said.
According the approved application, the roof structure of the hall has deteriorated, cladding is thought to have asbestos through it, windows and doors are in poor condition and there is internal damage to the walls and ceilings from water penetration.
While the whole showground is heritage listed, the craft hall has been identified as holding no historical significance.
Located between the Bourke Street entrance to the showground and the office building, Mr Ryan is hopeful that the demolition will occur in the next month.
