The two trucks are examples of Scania’s industry-leading New Truck Generation (NTG) range and are fitted with unique side curtain rollover airbags as standard to protect the driver (and passenger) in the event of a serious crash.
The trucks will be on display and available for test drives accompanied by two of Scania’s master driver trainers at O’Reilly Truck Repairs, operated by Brad and Tracey O’Reilly in Say Street.
On show will be the R 620 6x4 prime mover powered by Scania’s 16.4-litre V8, producing 620hp and 3000Nm of torque; and the G 500 6x4 prime mover, powered by Scania’s 13.0-litre six-cylinder (500hp, 2550Nm).
This advertising feature is supported by the following business:
“We are very excited to be able to welcome the NTG Scanias to Wagga Wagga and to see them at our workshop,” Brad O’Reilly said.
“Our open day also celebrates the completion of our workshop extension, where we have doubled our capacity to six work bays and, as before, we have the ability to drive B-doubles in and out, helping to reduce the time off the road for customers.
“We look forward to welcoming owner-drivers and fleet representatives on October 13 and would encourage those who would like a test drive to call ahead in the week leading up to the event to secure their slot.”
Scania Australia regional sales manager for NSW & ACT Ben Pattie said the NTG success has resulted in the highest order levels ever.
“These trucks have been a success from the moment of their launch and have won an unprecedented 300 comparative and independent tests carried out by media across Europe, not to mention being voted International Truck of the Year on debut,” Mr Pattie said.
“These trucks have remarkably green credentials, reducing fuel consumption by up to 10 per cent compared with the already frugal trucks they replace.
“And the cabs have all been made bigger, more comfortable and are even easier to see out of, so drivers will truly feel like kings of the road.”
