Eliza, who has been dancing since the age of five, has just passed her solo seal exam with the Australian Institute of Classical Dance.
Leanne Nicol of the Wagga Academy of Ballet has been teaching Eliza for seven years.
Ms Nicol said Eliza’s success was the result of years of hard work.
“Not every ballet student is eligible to take this exam – you have to demonstrate artistry as well as technique,” she said.
“The exam involves performing various ballet repertoire solos and 22 fouette pirouettes on pointe. If the fouettes are not achieved, it is an immediate fail.
“Last year Eliza took out shared second place in Australia for her advanced two Borovansky syllabus exam, making her eligible to take the solo seal exam.”
Eliza, a student at Kildare Catholic College, hopes to study environmental science at the University of Sydney.
She is also hoping to continue dancing, but is not intending to make it a career.
“I just do it for the pleasure of dancing,” the 18-year-old said.
Academy students had a 100 per cent pass rate in their exams.
