Instead he will remain with the Diesels for his second year at the helm.
President Simon Vanzanten was pleased to confirm the club would have the services of the man who led them back to the finals this season.
“Jim had been offered that job but he would have had to have done it out of Fiji and didn’t really want to relocate this family,” Vanzanten said.
“He’s knocked it back to stay with the Diesels for next year.”
Vatubuli was an 11th hour replacement for the sacked Dane Nielsen and helped the club to a fourth place finish in 2018.
Meanwhile, Hayden Diggins and Rhys Clemson were named joint best and fairest winners at the club’s presentation night on Saturday.
Rusiate Kaliseiwaqa was named rookie of the year.
