The cause of the fire, near Blowering Dam, continues to be investigated.
In a statement, the RFS said the intensity of fire was unusual in September in the region.
“It is an indication of just how dry the bush is,” the statement reads.
“Please take extreme care if you’re burning off and if you’re going camping make sure you extinguish your campfire before leaving.”
Meanwhile, the Riverina Strike Team that went to assist the Yankees Gap Road bushfire in Bemboka has returned.
The fire is now 19,646ha and has a perimeter of more than 190km.
Riverina zone’s operational officer Brad Stewart thanked the members for their hard work.
Speaking to the Daily Advertiser on Sunday, September 23, Mr Stewart said three more volunteers departed Wagga to help in specialist roles.
“These included communications and aviation to assist with coordination of resources,” he said.
