Just after 3am, fire crews attached to Turvey Park Station were called to Fernleigh Road to extinguish a car that was believed to be deliberately lit.
They responded within five minutes of the call, and took 15 minutes to tame the blaze.
Their efforts were slowed by the car’s leaking fuel, likely a result of the melted fuel pump and other internal elements.
Police discovered that the vehicle was in fact stolen, with the owner having reported it earlier.
They have now been notified that a full investigation will be ongoing.
