It was $2200 down on the crowd which saw Leeton-Whitton break a premiership drought last year but up on the preceding years.
Last season’s was the first gate since 2013 to break the 30-thousand dollar mark. The 2014, 2015 and 2016 grand final gates were all under $27,000.
“Great crowd considering we had the same two clubs in the seconds and firsts,” Flanigan said. “We’re happy with the crowd, again well behaved, and just great atmosphere over here.
“Overall, the whole finals series, when you put it all together, came out pretty much line ball or a bit in front of where we were the year before.”
After an extremely hot and windy day last year and drenching conditions in 2016, the league was blessed with ideal conditions for its second Saturday grand final which appears here to stay.
Flanigan said exciting finishes to both the A Grade netball and senior football deciders were an ideal finish to a good season.
“I mentioned at the Quinn Medal night, the season and the finals series were close all the way through. There were no real floggings in finals so it’s probably a good reflection of where the comp is as far as competitiveness between the clubs.”
The gate at last week's Farrer League grand final was $30,070.
